Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 25, 2012 7:22 pm My husband and I own a lovely 1930-40s Queenslander in Kedron (Brisbane North). The 3 bedroom, 1 bath queenslander sits on a 855sqm block and has a pool. The house sits at the front of the block and we are thinking of moving it slightly too. Underneath the house is concreted with 2 spare rooms an old shower and toilet, laundry and single garage. This area is not legal height. The front and back entrances into the house are via external timber stairs only. My husband and I want to do major renovations to this house: Here is our dilemma and we don't know where to start... - currently we have rented our home out til January 2013 - the exterior is in in need of a major sand/paint job, prob looking at least $25 000 - we want to raise the house underneath and possibly move it slightly to the right side to allow for a double car garage on the left which currently has a drive through access to the backyard - we need to get architect/design plans but as we are currently interstate its hard to get this started without actually being present/and the house available easily The house really needs the paint job desperately but we don't want to spend that money if in 1-3 years we started raising, renovations and extensions. If we delayed raising and reno's, we would paint the outside, update the kitchen cupboards and create a laundry downstairs (which is currently just a tub and machine on concrete under the house). Has any one got any suggestions or advice on where to start? Thanks in advance Re: Don't know where to start; Advice welcome 2May 03, 2012 1:33 pm I'm not experienced in moving a house, but my recommendations would be to organise a day with your tenant that you can access the property. Get onto google and find people that can help you. Builders, painters etc. Organise them to meet you at the property on the day and fly up and get some real advise. Then you can decide what direction you can take / budgets. Milesy. Tradie may sit at home but will need to get house plastered as well or will you sit it out? 6 9938 I had an old shower unit that broke on me and when I took it off, there were only 2 water pipes, instead of the normal 2 water pipes and a shower head pipe.
