Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 02, 2012 1:38 pm Hi all, We're thinking of re-cladding our '70s wood frame pole home with metal cladding (corrugated iron/zincalume/mini-orb). In the early stages of deciding on material, getting quotes etc. (We would be hiring pros to do the work.) Would love to hear of anyone else's experience with this material, positive or negative, and ballpark costs per sq. m. if possible. Also, with the home being raised off the ground >2m we are assuming scaffolding would be required? Would be interested to hear experiences of how this may add to the cost & complexity of the cladding job. Thanks! Stu Re: Corrugated iron wall cladding: experiences? 2Apr 22, 2012 11:21 am going down the same route myself this year. only parts of my house are more than 4m off the not very level ground. are you in WA cause I have found a lot of cladding on the brand name websites is not available in Perth as for scaffolding I am thinking of buying 2nd hand, getting it professionally erected, leaving it there for 6 months then selling it rather than renting. This is because apart from recladding I will be running new wiring, insulating etc etc so would rather just potter along than have a rental schedule hanging over my head Re: Corrugated iron wall cladding: experiences? 3Apr 22, 2012 9:28 pm Stu I have never recald a home, but we have used metal clading extensively on new homes particularly in bushfire prne areas. The materail cost typically $ 45 a square metre for zincalume and about $50 for colourbond, but get some quotyes from local roofing companies or carpenters (not plumbers) @builderforlife Building inspector and passionate about construction When you need an expert to take a look.
