Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Mar 26, 2012 10:21 am Hi everyone, New to the forum and new to renovating. We are looking to add a room to the back of our fairly new house (modern, Mirvac built in 2005). The room would be on the ground floor and approximately 5.5m x 3.5m. Also looking to remove our kitchen, currently on the back wall, replace with bi folds and move kitchen to the side wall, opening the house to the smallish back yard (add a pool later). So my questions are: 1) can anyone explain the process for me? Do I need a draftsmen or can I find a one stop shop building company? 2) Can anyone recommend a good builder? 3) Is there a rough per sqm cost for extensions? Just trying to get a ballpark. I know its hard, based on fittings etc, but thought someone might have experience in Brisbane. 4) Any ideas on the cost of a new kitchen - not top of the line, but premium. Thanks in advance, I appreciate your help. For a small 17sqm extension, removing the kitchen (on the back wall) and replacing with bifolds and putting in a new kitchen, it came in at $165k. Here's hoping some other quotes come in much less.
