Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Mar 12, 2012 2:09 pm We are at the tail end of our house reno and extension, however I have been reading everyone else's thread and thought it was only fair that I at least share a little as well! We are in Southern Sydney, started with a three bed, one bathroom, one living area house which we have lived in for 10 years. We now have a four bedroom, three bathroom, three living area house. Probably a bit big for what we needed, however to get to the laundry we needed that third living area, which we have nicknamed the 'mancave'. We quite literally gutted the house, moved most rooms around and rearranged everything. There are two gyprock walls in one bedroom that is from the original house, everything else, most floors, walls, windows, bathrooms and kitchens are new. The only way we could afford it was to do a lot of the labouring work ourselves, we nearly killed ourselves doing it, and continue to do so till we have a few more things done, then we need to stop for a while or we will kill each other Here are some before and after shots, although the afters are not quite finished, most of the back of the house has been painted, however every time I go to take a photo it is raining so this is the closest I have... I have attempted to take the photos from roughly the same place. Front: Back: Living area: kitchen area: Re: Our home reno and extension 2Mar 12, 2012 2:40 pm Wow! Amazing reno. We are so happy with the result, although the bank account isn't so happy. PaulMac I wondered if someone was going to spot that one. It is a metal upright holding one of the many beams up that hold the upstairs up. The plan is to put a built in wood heater in the space between the two stacker doors, which will cover up the upright and hole in the roof. However Hubby and I are at a stalemate over our heater choices so that may take a little longer than we had hoped Re: Our home reno and extension 11Mar 19, 2012 2:56 pm Wow what a transformation - well done For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters.
