Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jan 19, 2012 11:56 am We are wanting to completely gut our bathroom and have it redone in a more modern style than it's current lime green & outdated style. I was wondering what sort of ballpark figure I would be looking at to have it completely fitted out & whether anyone had any recommendations for tradies in Adelaide they have used before? It is not a big bathroom by any means (2.7m x 1.8m) - has bath, shower & vanity currently & would be looking to do the same again in a slightly different configuration. Are we better off engaging different tradies to do ewach part (ie tilers, plumbers etc) or get a reno specialist who can do it all? I am hoping that a budget of $10,000 will do it, and am happy to do whatever I can myself to help things along (ie pulling tiles etc). I have also heard of people going to auctions & wholesalers to buy their own tiles, bath, vanity etc to save some $$. If anyone could answer any of my questions (with my limited information) it would be appreciated. Cheers Re: Bathroom Makeover - where to begin?? 2Jan 20, 2012 10:44 am You can save hundreds of dollars on vanity, toilet, bath so definitely look at wholesalers, Ebay etc. Careful when buying tiles though, some cheap ones are inferior, thin etc. Some tilers don't like laying them. When we do our bathrooms we strip it ourselves, resheet and get a tiler in to waterproof and tiles floor and walls to the ceiling ($2K). Depends how handy you are. If you are keeping the plumbing in the same spot that won't cost much. Unless you want $1K bath etc it won't cost anywhere near $10K.
