Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Dec 09, 2011 11:12 am hi, SILs don't like the current flooring for the entry. They're some carpet tiles, colour dark brown? with 70's ? patterned tiles under. The entry is about 1.5 x 2. There is only one room-family room on the left of the entry. It is with carpet A , and they said it maybe changed in the future. Under the carpet is concrete slab. The stair is facing the entry, with carpet B ,colour beige/ cream( may have timber floor under, they haven't checked yet). Upstairs living room is with carpet B and timber floor. What flooring will you suggest ? They have surplusfor the beige/ cream carpet. Easy to maintain is the biggest concern. Before I suggested beige/ cream tiles as we have surplus and they could use them. thanks Spring is here! Hurray! Re: What flooring for the entry? 2Dec 14, 2011 9:52 am anything would be better than the carpet tiles!!! so pick whatever you want. Re: What flooring for the entry? 3Dec 14, 2011 3:29 pm A floorplan would do wonders here. Personally I like a landing or entry to be a hard flooring (tiles/timber/polished concrete) so if you have any of that in a nearby by dining or kitchen I would go for that. It depends on what you can see from the entry Re: What flooring for the entry? 4Dec 14, 2011 8:25 pm My entry is tiled. After the 2 x 2 metre entry, it timber floors. This is great since: 1) Wet shoes, bags, etc can be left on tile 2) If someone has a stone stuck in their shoe, it will be noticed on the tile before it digs a hole in timber (or gets put on carpet) 3) It defines the entry. Re: What flooring for the entry? 6Dec 16, 2011 4:53 pm we have a very light travertine tile look in the entry. then a chocolate carpet, I like the contrast. Black on light wood does look good.
