Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Dec 03, 2011 12:36 pm I have a 5m x 8m wooden shed sitting on a concrete slab. The slab has cracked and sunk and needs repair / replacement. Is there a way to move the shed off the slab so I can remove the old slab, pour new one in and then put the shed on the new slab ? The shed itself is sitting on the slab with its walls only. There isn't any flooring of the shed. It's floor is the slab - I am just worried that it's not possible to move this kind of shed without dismantling it. Thank you Re: Moving wooden shed off the concrete slab 2Dec 04, 2011 4:05 am I have been part of moving a steel trussed iron-clad garage 7m x 6m by placing steel beams through the apex of the trusses, and using a spreader bar, hooking it to a 40 tonne crane through the removed ridge capping. The crane jib reached the garage from an adjoining vacant block. Almost anything can be moved, once its reinforced so it stays in one piece, but not knowing the strength of your timber shed or crane access it may be a different matter. Plus once your slab is fixed you want to move it back again which would probably make the costs prohibitive, so you may have to disassemble it. Arfur Re: Moving wooden shed off the concrete slab 3Dec 04, 2011 8:58 am Have you contact house movers to get a quote? they usually slide steel I-beams under a house after jacking it off the foundations. Might be able to do something like that? I don't think jacking the shed will be a problem, it will be moving it enough to allow access to remove and pour a new slab that will be more awkward as that will depend on available space. Did you watch House Movers on TV? It's a US moving series and they moved two storey house, churches etc and on one episode a whole town. Was amazing to watch, they just tied the whole building, jacked them up, slid I-beams and dollies underneath and drove away. Of course I wouldn't have any idea of cost, that might blow your budget or you might be pleasantly surprised. Good luck I couldn't attached the photo for some reason.
