resturmpoing part of my sold brick house and found 3 out of 12 joists have rotten due to dampness and mildew at the end where the joist sits on the brick wall.. Only 10-20cm rotten Without having to remove the entire floor and start again can I bolt another joist to the original so it now sits on the bearer and brick wall? I'd anticipate 3 or 4 staggered 10mm bolts to provide the strength. Obioulsy cutting away the rotten part of the original joist. As its only flooring would this be sufficient?
I appreciate the dampness and mildew issue will have to be addressed as well, but thats another post.
