Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 May 21, 2011 8:25 pm Hi, I just got a house in Fitzroy and want to put a detached granny flat out the back. 30 sqm footprint, 2 storey. I have looked into the codes for R1Z and it says you can only build 60% of the block, which the existing house already takes up. What can I do? I read here that NSW have relaxed laws, does VIC? Unfortunately you will have to outlay all of the $$ for planning before you know if you can actually build it. A third party company who deals in building and planning permits will be able to prepare all of the documents you require and lodge then on your behalf.
