Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 May 10, 2011 10:23 am Have just had a quote to put a colour bond roof over a terraced area. The roof area is a flat roof that covers around 45sqm (7.5 x 6 metres) . IT has to have a engineered spec'd steel beams due to the width. The underneath will be boxed - finished in fibro due to fire (but also to give a nice finish). Treated timbers with a fire blanket finish under the roofing - Quoted $14,500 for the job. Our budget is tight and want proceed - but it is way more than we expected, plus our funds are now low. Does this sound reasonable to those in the know? Cheers Re: COLOURBOND - roof over a terraced area 2May 12, 2011 8:58 am Sounds reasonable based on quotes I got for an area smaller than that. Maybe go to Stratco or someone similar and get a 2nd quote? Milesy Re: COLOURBOND - roof over a terraced area 3May 12, 2011 12:07 pm Go to one of your local shed building companies as well. We have had two areas ( 6m x 4.2m and 3 x3m) fully installed with colorbond roofing, concrete slab and steel beams etc-grand total of $8,900. They wanted $18,000 for a 5m by 10m flat roof pergola. I asked them for a break down in costs and they came up with $10,000 worth of labor! After researching the materials the timber came to $1300 and im pretty sure i could get everything else i need including hardy board cladding for the ceileing and sheet metal / colorbond for the roof at $1500 my suggestion be very carful of the "big" home reno companys. Find yourself a local guy and give him a hand putting it up, You will save yourself a heap of money and will be looking after the local economy Re: COLOURBOND - roof over a terraced area 6Jun 28, 2011 5:36 pm Just doing a 45m2 colourbond roof at 5-8degrees. Colourbond was about $4k, 2 rolls of sacking, 1 roll of mesh, about 100m of wood. Probably about 12 days labour so far and still need to cut tiles and repoint. So depending on the complexity of the job it might be ok. Cheers. The painted render is a bit chalky to the touch. To prepare the surface for best adhesion, what would you recommend?
