Hello. My girlfriend and I are about to embark on the nightmare of renovating and living in our first house. We are renovating the whole lot top to bottom nearly and are starting with the bathroom/laundry/toilet, which is currently one room, which will be transformed into a teeny ensuit, bathroom, toilet and laundry all seperate. Lucky we are sort of on the same path for most things except the basin's at the moment, but that is a problem for later on. What I'd like to learn more about at the moment is the advantages and disadvantages of LED's and the new energy saving light bulbs. Being that only one light will currently survive the reno's (it's one of those four banger heat/light/fan thingo's) all the other lights will be removed and made way for new lighting. I was leaning toward LED's in all the rooms, with a two banger heat/light/fan thingo in the ensuit. However, I have been told it probably isn't worth setting up LED's now because the price is about to plumit on them and the energy savers are just as efficent and much cheaper to install. Keep in mind we intend to keep this house as a rental in the future so anything pretty hardy and with minimul maintance is what we are looking for. I'd also like the lights throughout the house to be the same sort of fittings with the obvious exceptions, (probably something fancy in the dinning room) and these reno's might not happen for two years, in which case the LED's would be a lot cheaper and I may kick myself for not starting with them. I'm looking at using the downlight sort of fittings. Also, the light/heat/fan thingo's, can they have energy saver bulbs put in for the 'light' part?
Thanks for any help and any advice.
