Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 03, 2011 7:55 am Hi all. Probably easiest that i explain what i want done before i start. I have a 2 bed apartment and want to do the following: take the majority of the wall down between kitchen and living (including removal of old gas heater). remove carpet from living room and hallway, remove tiles from kitchen, replace all with floorboards replace carpet in bedrooms remove old kitchen and replace with ikea flatpack kitchen with caesar stone bench top install reverse cycle air conditioning replace toilet (separate from bathroom) and replace tiles in toilet My problem is i have no idea what order i need to organise tradies, whether to lay floorboards then install kitchen or install kitchen then lay floorboards, etc etc? any help would be greatly appreciated! Re: what order to have things done??? 2Apr 03, 2011 9:48 am This may help a little: We had our floor boards laid before the kitchen was installed however we are waiting 'til every part of our reno/extension is complete and then will have the boards sanded and polished last of all so they will not be damaged. Is it a multi level apartment complex where you need approval before doing these works? Do you know if its a load bearing wall? Get it looked at to see what can be done Move all furniture from living Plumber to remove heater (yes you need a plumber to do it by law) and toilet. Remove tiles in toilet Get tiler in for new tiles in toilet New toilet (Plumber) and remove gas kitchen appliances Electrician to remove kitchen appliances Remove carpet Knock out wall. remodel to suit (archway/posts/etc...)Don't paint anything yet Remove kitchen cupboards. Remove tiles in kitchen New Kitchen install Benches go in. Clean all the dust from the benches for the next 40days (those sink cut outs are reallllllllllllllllllllllly messy stuff) Plumber & Electrician for refit of appliances and add air con. Also add more power points to kitchen or living at this time. Paint Carpet and timber floors. Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built.
