Unrenovated bits show just how far you've come.........and have to go. Re: Mattwalker's renovation project - The new house 6Mar 08, 2011 7:18 am Great house, Matt, seems huge too! How big is your current pergola and how big are you planning it (seems huge already)? My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Mattwalker's renovation project - The new house 10Mar 09, 2011 11:54 am Wow! A lot has happened since I last caught up - you were finishing your build while we were building back in 07-08. Your renovations are awesome (not that I've seen the before's) and no doubt the rest will be equally amazing. Funnily enough, we (well, if I can convince hubby) are considering a reno project next. Second Time 'Round Re: Mattwalker's renovation project - The new house 11Mar 09, 2011 10:06 pm OK so where to start? KITCHEN. So you might remember in our last house we built the fridge space to suit the fridge: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This was great except the new house had the same thing done for their very short pidgeon pair. If you can see in this picture there are cupboards above the fridge and there is 2 boxes side by side. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ When we went to slide our fridge in ... it didnt fit! Solution = remove the top cupboards Now it looks like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Whilst we were at it we also had the fridge plumbed in (no point in having fresh water and an ice maker if there is no water!!) So after a quick consultation with the boss it was decided that we would not buy a new fridge to suit the space but rather we would fill the space (spoilsport she is!) This was the plan: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This would leave enough room around the back and side of the fridge to breathe and still give us some extra space and a drawer for the bin rather than keeping it in the pantry. The cabinet also needed to sit far enough forward to clear the powerpoint on the wall and the water inlet on the floor. This is the fitted cabinetry: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the bin drawer in "bin drawer" action: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is a side profile showing the doors sticking out just past the cabinetry. This is important as the doors will hit (not open) if it is too far back. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The kitchen is now pretty much finished minus a few small details (paint etc.) now to which room next?? Second Time 'Round Re: Mattwalker's renovation project - The new house 16Mar 10, 2011 2:30 pm Lex Great house, Matt, seems huge too! How big is your current pergola and how big are you planning it (seems huge already)? The current pergola is 12 x 7 metres ... the extension ??? We will see when it is done! Re: Mattwalker's renovation project - The new house 17Mar 10, 2011 2:34 pm Lilmsreno Very nice Matt. I'm loving the wine storage, i'd love something like that.....not that it would EVER be full Same here. As this is up higher and above the fridge this is not for the "good stuff" ... Most of teh wine in there does not last a very long time with us anyway!! Re: Mattwalker's renovation project - The new house 18Mar 10, 2011 2:35 pm First_Timer_Ray One of those cube holes would make a great spot for an automatic coffee maker! I agree. I was also thinking about a bottom hinged microwave (until I saw the prices!!!) Thanks for the comments guys ... There is a lot more to come!
