What was the inspiration behind that? I'm not sure I could use it if visitors were in the house!! I'm so curious about you doing that. By the way, bub is absolutely gorgeous! Re: Biff's Reno - Updated Pics 102Apr 09, 2011 5:41 pm Thank you all for your compliments. The showers is certainly visible from the stairwell but the glass is opaque so you can't see anything. The stairwell leads upstairs which only contains the master bedroom and Ensuite so there is no 'through traffic' so to speak. Renovation Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38489 Re: Biff's Reno - Updated Pics 103Apr 23, 2011 4:49 pm just found your reno and loved it. Agree with nearly everything said here. Only point I'm not so fond of is original ceilings (don't shoot!). I'm one of those ppl that would get rid of a lot of old stuff inside. I'm big on keeping some of the original stuff though. Inspired to do my own reno one day. P.S. love the glass shower wall. Bit late now but did you ever consider that electric glass that witches between clear and opaque? could've been on a motion sensor or something in the bathroom to keep the privacy! Still a very classy feature I reckon. Re: Biff's Reno - Updated Pics 104Apr 23, 2011 5:42 pm Sir Snagger just found your reno and loved it. Agree with nearly everything said here. Still a very classy feature I reckon. SHOOT!!!!!!!!!!! Each to their own of course but I would almost kill to have a ceiling like that Re: Biff's Reno - Updated Pics 105Apr 23, 2011 6:03 pm I'm sitting in that room at the moment looking at the ceiling. It's beautiful! No ripping it out for me. We did consider the glass the switches but that stuff is expensive! That aside the main reason I wanted to avoid clear glass there was I didn't want to see any soap scum every time I walked down the stairs. I don't mind cleaning the shower but not after every wash! The weather is getting colder here in Melbourne so I've had a chance to test out the hydronic heating (which I've never had before) and it's fantastic. Such a lovely heat and our house warms up so fast. Loving it! Also a very good point about cleaning the clear glass. Re: Biff's Reno - Updated Pics 107Apr 23, 2011 9:39 pm That is one beautiful ceiling . Such a lovely heat and our house warms up so fast. Loving it! Wow this is beautiful! We are building a new house and our designer has specified silver top ash cladding in a few places... Your photos really make it obvioius how beautiful a timber it is. We are currently trying to decide about our planned in-slab hydronic heating but we are worried it isn't fast enough... Is yours in-slab or panels? Thanks for all the photos... Re: Biff's Reno - Updated Pics 109May 02, 2011 6:38 pm Thank you. The silvertop ash used inside has a slight greyish stain on it but the external wood is the natural colour. Our hydronic heating is panels and they are super quick. Absolutely fantastic. Did it only take 3 months or were the demo photos delay posted? We are are just finalising architect plans on our place - have not been given an approx build time, but I was assuming 6 months rather than 3 months (we are knocking off the extension and putting 2 stories on the back). Re: Biff's Reno - Updated Pics 115May 30, 2011 10:50 pm what an amazing job, congratulations on both your house and little boy. His eyes are so cute in that photo. Sorry if I missed this earlier, but can I ask what you have used in your kitchen for the cupboards, colours etc Re: Biff's Reno - Updated Pics 116May 31, 2011 2:56 pm free will Great reno The demo pictures were posted mid Sep and you were in mid -Dec. Chook07 - the kitchen cupboards are two pack paint with a satin finish (not sure of the colour as my schedule has a TBC on it) with Smart Stone in super white. The kitchen island is two pack paint with a gloss finish using Taubmans Billy Goat. Absolutely love the shower opaque glass - very stylishly done . I think have seen this an a magazine, was it in the Look Home architectural magazine? __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All new built homes look like display homes... until the furniture goes in. Re: Biff's Reno - Updated Pics 119Jun 11, 2011 3:22 pm Biff I have my draft plans but now need to start specifying details for the quote. Am interested in how you went about specifying the joinery for the bathroom/laundry/kitchen? Did you specify specific units from specific suppliers or custom joinery? If the latter how do you ensure you get the right design/quality/specifications? Cheers Free will Re: Biff's Reno - Updated Pics 120Jun 12, 2011 10:01 am Starz - no magazines yet Free Will - All our joinery is custom. If you are talking about the actual type of unit (i.e what goes where) then that was all pretty much determined by our architects. They presented an initial design and I went through it with them and 'approved' a the pot drawers, pantry etc. We also discussed finishes and our house has a combination of 2pack, veneer and stone. In regards to getting the right design and specifications that was pretty easy (and what I payed the architects for) but the quality aspect is a tough one. We were going to use a VERY good joiner initially but he was just too expensive. Having seen his work a few times is was amazing but I couldn't justify the cost so we went with another joiner both my builder and architect had used before (Werribee Joinery) and the quality is excellent, especially the finish of the 2pack - flawless.
