Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 06, 2024 8:25 pm Hello, I'm planning on adding a garage at the front of my existing single storey brick veneer. I have limited access for rear entry to proposed garage (2.5M) and it will be built on boundary. Was hoping to have brick veneer wall construction, but given typical wall thickness of ~240mm) was also looking at hebel xl zero boundary~200mm wall thickness. Next problem to get my head around will be the corner pillar/post to hang a roller/tilt door from and to support the structure. I was hoping a steel post as part of wall structure would do the trick and maximise the opening. The door will not be high use for wider objects but I would occasionally like to get a trailer/boat/car through it. I would prefer a solid wall construction to reduce noise for Neighbours when garage is in use. Can anyone suggest a wall & pillar construction method to ensure the opening is maximised? Thanks for suggestions and help. Hi there, We’ve recently had plans approved to add a 1st storey addition to our existing house for a growing family in Sydney.
