We have the attached room and would like to build it into a walk-in linen closet / storage room.
Unfortunately we're struggling to figure out how to build it out given the awkward window positioning about 1.4m from the ground.
Grateful for any ideas anyone has on using this space for that purpose most efficiently.
The door which is not shown on the plan is in the 0.89m entryway at the bottom-left of the plan.

Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ most towels and sheets will fit easily on 300mm deep shelves and my suggestion allows for a counter surface under the window (about 90cm off the floor would be a comfortable work surface (same depth and height as standard kitchen counters and/or up or down depending on height of users) 900mm wide walking space (similar to standard hallway) allows for a deeper shelf on the other side for folded quilts, pillows etc and there's a corner that could include a chair or small chest of drawers or? but fine details of individual shelf heights depends on everything you want to store but you could have tall spaces for vacuum, broom, ironing board, suitcases, out of season storage etc etc...it's a very generous storage space Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 07 Feb 2021 150 Bronze Member Re: Proposed walk in linen 3Apr 09, 2024 3:56 pm Do you really want to accommodate the window? What is on the outside of the window? Do you want to be able to see your towels from outside? I would blank the window from the inside irrespective of how you lay the room out - otherwise you are (in my opinion) compromising both the view in and the room layout. I would put 450mm wide shelves on top and bottom wall, and out to 600 on the RHS wall. Walkway width would be ~750mm which could be ok. You are limited by what you can fit through the door and get around the corner so my initial thought is 750mm would be fine. If 750mm isn't enough, I'd put 600 deep shelves on top and RHS wall, then have hanging or wall mounted on the bottom wall. Whatever that is, it is not the issue.
