We have a working fireplace with dark slate tile. We want to smooth it out and paint it white without losing all of the skirting and finishing around it.
Ideally we'd remove the tiles but we've been told that is not really possible. We've also been suggested to concrete it then it'll be smooth and paintable.
What's the best way to do this?

To put anything over slate you will need to put self level compound over the entire area as slate various in thickness and is very un even. To install most types of… 1 8773  just pull up the slate. If you go over the top, your tiles would not have an even surface to be glued to. Im no tiler, but i can imagine a couple of things being an issue… 1 8602 if l cannot get a sandblaster would a sander with sandpaper be better then a wire brush 4 17504 |
