Hi everyone, We're very new to even considering renovating. We bought our house as a newly married couple. However, now we have 3 children under 5, plus inlaws who stay regularly! We'd love to purchase a new home but it's not really something we can afford for the next 5+ years. We're wondering if there is anything we can do to improve our current home to make it more functional and what that possibly would cost? We'd love to open up the kitchen, living if possible, and add a 2nd bathroom or at least toilet. Unfortunately, we can't really see how it's possible? Luckily we have a large deck which we use as second living area. Two kids currently share and Bed 4 is a playroom/guest room with pull out couch. We also need to keep a WFH space as I work two days from home.
Looking for small to medium renovation or extension ideas? Or different options? Budget $50k to $200k max. One basic idea was to possibly extend the laundy to be in line with kitchen wall and then add a second toilet in there. Or possibly extend Bed 1 out into the front yard and add ensuite? Or maybe turn Bed 4 and Study into bed and bath. Open to any ideas???
Or are we better off, putting up with as is and desperately trying to save for something a bit bigger?
Any advice or ideas is much appreciated! We know nothing! lol

We're facing a similar dilemma... I posted the floorplan on Houzz.com forum and got some really good ideas and advice from people there. Then we reached out to a couple of renovation companies and one has come up with a concept floorplan which we like. It’s not our dream home but it’s as good/better than what we could afford to buy in our area if we were to buy/sell.
