Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Aug 17, 2023 9:53 am Seeking some advice as my wife and I can't decide the best course of action. We've just bought a house, 26 years old with a Colorbond metal roof, 700m from the beach. We want to put Solar panels on however our roof looks like this - https://ibb.co/cCj9SGChttps://ibb.co/cCj9SGC https://ibb.co/pJ99D76 https://ibb.co/Mg9VwnJ https://ibb.co/Mg9VwnJ If this was your house, would you repaint or replace? This will be our home for the next 10+ years. Re: 26 year old Colorbond roof. Repaint or replace? 2Aug 17, 2023 10:33 am Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust with Zinc rich paint. I talk from experience because my house is right on the beach. The corrugated roof on the top is more than 20 years old, corrugated roof in the middle is 30 years old and Trimdek roof on the bottom was built in 2016.
