Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Aug 07, 2022 3:11 pm Hi all, I have an old 60s house with a terracotta roof, however I am not sure how old the roof tiles are. I am not sure if I should spend a few thousand on roof renovation, or if I should be budgeting to replace the roof with colorbond. We noticed some leaks externally on some of the eaves when there is heavy rain and the front two rooms we have noticed some mould on the corner of the ceilings, but not sure if its due to the condition of the roof or due to the heavy rains and wind and not having sarking under the tiles. To my untrained the battens and tiles generally look ok, in some areas they are not perfectly aligned which one of the roofers pointed out and they quoted me $1400 that would look over the entire roof, replace cracked tiles and readjust a few tiles that appear to not be aligned perfectly against each other. Alternatively quotes to replace the roof with colorbond range from $14,000-$20,000. What do you guys make of the photos, does the roof look ok to just inspect and replace a few tiles - or would I be better off saving and waiting to replace the whole thing. Thanks in advance for any input Cheers J Re: Old Terracotta Roof - does it need replacing ? 2Aug 07, 2022 3:55 pm The photos appear to have not uploaded I have uploaded to link below https://imgur.com/a/zLGrHI3 Hi everyone I have a terracotta tiles roof When I climb inside the roof cavity I can feel that there is a draft inside the roof as the wind goes through the roof which is… 0 4383 We're looking at replacing the roof of a heritage listed home so it needs to be terracotta tiles, wondering if anyone has any recommendations, hints or… 0 1398 Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement.
