Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Aug 03, 2022 4:09 pm Hey everyone, Ive just bought an old workers cottage that of course is covered in fibro. It's been clad over with vinyl cladding at some point and that is now falling apart. I don't really want to get into removing the fibro and wondering if battening and then running hardie board cement lap siding over the top is an option? Two issues I see could be the fibro cracking when trying to nail through it, which is why I thought battons might be better to put up first, plus give a void that could be filled with solid insulation, but the second problem could be that this will move the cladding plane out and Id have to re trim all the windows and doors to bring them out too. Any thoughts? Sorry this site seems to insist on rotating the picture. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Standard uninsulated double brick has an R value of around 0.7.
