Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Oct 28, 2021 6:15 pm Hi all, Was just hoping to get some advice on our patio slab for our house we moved into 4 months ago. There was a major extension by the previous owners in 2018 which included a lounge/dining room and adjoining covered patio area. Unfortunately there are some spots on the patio concrete slab which pool water. I've included some photos taken the morning after a light rain event (can't seem to rotate them). At the moment we just sweep the water into the grass but it is obviously fairly annoying. Was hoping to get some advice on how to fix. My thoughts are: 1. For the pooling at the edges, have the slab ground down to allow for fall to the grassed area. The owners advised they had this done multiple times by the builder at the end of the extension. It improved but is still a problem. 2. My father in law suggested drilling a hole through the slab and installed a 600mm deep PVC pipe with drain slots cut in. A metal grate would be installed at the top level to the slab. I'm concerned this would just fill up during rain events and could also erode away the soil under the slab. 3. Drill a hole through the slab and install drainage lines all the way to a soak well under the grassed area. Not even sure this is possible. Would really appreciate some suggestions.
