We are at the front of a what i'd call a very large block (1370m2) backing onto quite a noisy road. Original house was built in 1971. We were keen to go KDR but our budget meant we needed to work with the high volume builders, and it turns out they are not fans of the 2+metre cross fall we have. Here are the plans so far (red lines are existing walls being deleted) Block view, including proposed extension and garage. Ceiling height isn't great. We definitely looked a putting the stairs in a more central location, but you can see the outlines of the underlying steel beams that meant the stairs could only really end up in an awkward position. The alternative is to simply stick with the dangerous spiral staircase we currently have. The kitchen placement actually works pretty well where you have placed it, even with the proposed stair location in the far corner.. Would you say its unusual to have a kitchen facing the street? That is a good question about the external access from that end of the house, its something our home designer added as part of the initial concepts and I didn't question it at the time. Great point on the bedroom ensuite, there isn't any space constraints, and the room is probably slightly oversized to our needs. We are trying to rework the layout a bit to get more hanging space in the WIR as well. Again, thanks so much for the feedback and drawings. .
