Hey everyone
First time poster and hoping for some assistance. Well after saying 3 kids enough, my wife is pregnant with our 4th ( surprise). As a result we have decided to convert our attached garage into some new living areas/bedrooms. The situation at the moment is the builder is currently inspecting the slab, and so far has not been able to find any plastic waterproofing membrane under the slab. The slab however is around 20-30cm thick. What is the best way around this situation if we cannot find the membrane? We are seriously worried about rising damp and mould so hoping we still have an option to do this reno. Is the worst case to rip it up and pour a new slab? or are there other options? The builder has made some suggestions but i am a bit worried - he said there is a chemical you can paint on top to seal it, but then what about when we put carpet in and puncture the floor? or dynabolting the walls into the slab? won't this damage the integrity of the sealant?
Thanks, p4peel
