Re: Bushfire Control Company (Warrior FZ Windows)? 3Jul 20, 2021 6:01 am ChrisBirmele As part of our home renovation we have to comply with BAL-FZ requirements. We are considering shutters from Bushfire Control (https://www.bushfirecontrol.com.au/) but want to check if anyone has experience with this company? Secondly, who will certify the BAL-FZ requirements have been met? My understanding is, neither the builder, product supplier nor the certifier will do this. The reason is that I want to verify the selected products - if installed properly - will comply. Thanks, regards Chris Hi Chris As I am sure you are aware, there are quite a few elements that go into building an FZ compliant home and you will end up with certificates from various suppliers confirming their products comply with FZ and then the builder will need to certify that his installation complies with FZ. All these certificates go off to the certifier who then gives you an occupation certificate. This is no different to building any normal house that also needs certificates from key trades such as electricians and plumbers confirming that their work meets the standards and the builder also supplies his. So if you are using a particular FZ rated product such as windows and it's a supply and install contract the supplier will give your builder a certificate confirming it meets standards. This applies across the board. With Warrior windows I personally have had a very bad experience so I will never use them, but I have spoken to other people who have had a great experience so, maybe it depends on who you get and what mood they are in. Also a lot of our clients want the ability to use their shutters as security screens or privacy screens and you can't do that with the warrior window product as its the fabric type rather than stainless steel. Anyway, enjoy your building journey Cheers Simeon Architectural Homes & Duplexes - specialising in custom designing homes to your budget Get a Free Onsite Consultation Today or send a PM for information, questions or advice.
