Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 25, 2021 1:17 pm The door handle to one of our bedrooms has fallen off and I wish to reattach it. How do I remove the faceplates though? See photos for more info. I have tried screwing the faceplate counterclokwise (and clockwise) and also prying it off with a screwdriver however have had no luck. Cheers for any help! The threaded part is around the spindle and can get quite tight. It is a standard direction thread so anticlockwise is right. You could try spraying a bit of CRC in behind the back plate and hopefully that will help loosen it up. Had I known what such a simple job it was I would have done it a year ago rather than had a hole in the door since then DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Brilliant - thanks so much for that. I didn't want to start pulling too hard on it if there was some other way it was attached, but yep, it was just the paint sticking it… 2 3162 Get some long brass machine screws and bolt right through the gate and put brass acorn nuts and washers on the other side.
