We have a front (north facing) deck that was built by previous owner who considered himself a 'handy man'. Anyway he hasn't implemented any drainage, the bearers weren't attached to the stumps, the joists were not for outdoor use and needless to say we have ripped it out and are starting over. I will be inserting 2 lines of agi pipe to collect ground water but my question is what type of drainage/waterproofing should I consider for where the decking meets the soil? Obviously ventilation is an issue here but it does get quite a bit from underneath the house.
