Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jan 31, 2021 7:23 am Hi there, We have a 1950’s low set house in Brisbane. We would like to raise and renovate, but have no idea where to start or even an idea of how much this is likely to cost. Someone suggested initially we need to get a building designer to do some plans, but I’m keen to get some general advice first, i.e whether the house is even in good enough condition to raise/whether it will be very cost effective versus us just knocking down and rebuilding. I’m keen to raise to avoid having to move out for such a long period and the option of having something a bit more unique. Does anyone know which kind of company I should approach to get some general advice on options/idea of costs, or should I be looking to get designs done in the first instance? Many thanks! Re: Raise and renovate - where to start? 2Feb 08, 2021 5:03 pm If I were you I would speak to one of the house relocation companies, there is one around Caboolture. Ask about their process regarding setting up relocated Queenslanders/Colonials etc, they may know or be able to point you in the right direction of contractors that can assess your place. We did get a ridiculously cheap quote in the 90s for a place we were living in at the time, I suspect that it costs quite a bit more now than acrow prop hire... ok thanks - yes was wondering if that should have been listed as Option Three! 2 7829 i had the my concreters concrete right up to the fence. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits. There's only one… 7 12910 if the original house is in good condition most of what you listed could be added in stages without the need for KDR and costs and disruption of having to live elsewhere… 1 13833 |
