Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jan 06, 2021 5:27 pm I've just completed a kitchen reno, and installed an induction cooktop and rather high-end Schweigen rangehood. I smashed out maximum steam for the first time tonight and a heap of condensation appeared, even with the rangehood maxed on highest setting. I feel like the position of the cooktop is too far forward on the benchtop to enable the rangehood to adequately extract. Thoughts ? I know there are minimum compliance distances and comfortable that mine meet all of these. There's basically 200mm between the centre of the front hob and the start of the rangehood extractor. It's been installed within manufacturer reccs (Bosch) but doesn't seem optimal to me. https://ibb.co/yNG9xDt Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Distances between cooktop, backwall & rangehood 2Jan 06, 2021 6:57 pm ![]() I've just completed a kitchen reno, and installed an induction cooktop and rather high-end Schweigen rangehood. Hear is the recommendations from schweigen. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As you can see the deeper the better. Induction cooktops produce incredible power which can produce a lot of steam. As you can see from the attached details with a deeper benchtop you should be looking at deeper overheads to maximise the extraction. Electric is usually lower because of the lack of flame. The extraction is not based on height it's purely the capacity of the motor and extraction system. Slide out rangehoods are normally at the low end of rangehoods with regards extraction and noise. 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
