You need 2 LVL's that will span across the room set in whatever distance you need to achieve the desired height in under the pitch. Then another 2 shorter LVL's to run between the first two at the same set back from the walls in the opposite direction. The existing ceiling joists will butt into the side of the new LVL's and a new set of ceiling joists will sit on top of those LVL's to form the upper section of ceiling. Depending on the size of the span of those new ceiling joists on top you may need a hanger above. To get it all in you will need to remove the existing ceiling so you can do all the cutting and install the LVL's. Thanks for this, good to know. Sounds expensive given the room is 6 × 4 m , I'll get a builder in for a quote, certainly doesn't sound like a DIY. Thanks again! ok thanks - yes was wondering if that should have been listed as Option Three! 2 7741 Hi All, about to commence a bathroom renovation and need some advice on subfloor works.
