Hi there,
We are in all senses of the word, renovation noobs! We hired a qualified builder with over 30 years experience to renovate our early 70's house.
After our initial excitement of finally being able to start (Victoria's lockdown started a few weeks after we signed the contract), 3 weeks in and the honeymoon is over!
This is Part 1 of my concerns, the first of many...
Ok -they stripped the 2 bathrooms of tiles, replaced the Villaboard on the walls but on the floors, rather than remove the particle board off the floors, (looked in good condition to my untrained eye), they nalied yellow tongue particle board ditectly on top. Is that common practice? I probably would not have questioned it but i noticed the height difference between the bathroom floor and the flooring in the hallway outside (these will be changed to Tassie Oak floorboards to match the rest of thr house) before the porcelain tiles are even laid. It already looks like it will be a trip hazard! I'd like to get this sorted before the tiles I laid but I need some guidance from fellow renovators/builders/ trades. I have attached some photos, it's 5am so pics may not be perfect.
Thank you!
