Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 May 27, 2022 8:28 am Hi all, I'm after some advice if anyone can please assist. I have a couple of questions. I want to renovate my interior downstairs area (add gyprock ceiling and whitewash brick) but there are currently gaps betweek the upstairs weathboard and the downstairs brick (it was bricked-in after the fact by a previous owner). Some of the gaps are reasonably wide, say up to 20mm. Question 1: What would I use to fill the gaps in preparation for gyprocking? There had never been an issue with water leakage previously although in the recent torrential rains in south-east Queensland I discovered that the inside brick walls were damp from leakage somewhere. It's possible the water somehow entered through the gaps mentioned above but it also looked like it was possibly seeping through the brick or mortar (Is this even possible?). Question 2: Is there something I can use to seal the bricks and do I need to seal both the interior and exterior sides of the wall? Question 3: Is there anything else I need to consider prior to starting renos? Thanks for your advice! I have a home gym at home. It weights 150KG including the weight stack.
