Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jun 27, 2015 7:15 pm hi, i recently got this brick work done near the basement entrance of my house. I wanted your professional opinions on the work with what is wrong with it. Backstory. The concrete cracked over the winter and was falling apart so I needed to get it reworked and decided to have brickwork put in instead, but I think the job ended up being pretty bad. They had to match it with the existing brick work but it seems the spacing between the bricks are irregular, it is out of line and the bricks were cut poorly. I spoke to the construction guy and he stated that it was difficult to line the bricks up to existing brick work, and that it wouldn't have the same level of accuracy as building it from the ground up. He also said something along the lines of how hard it is handcut these bricks and that is why the quarter bricks are all messed up. I will be very honest, I don't know anything about brick work so I don't know if he is telling the truth. Please inform me of what is going on and what I actions I can take to remedy the situation. The guy explained that the side with the quarter bricks has a big space that needs to be accommodated for. Like if they aligned it with the old brick, there would be a hole about 1/4 of an inch from the door frame, and that would be unsightly. So they made an adjustment to accommodate for that space.
