Thank you Re: Digital Door Locks 22Feb 25, 2019 11:57 am I know this is an old thread, but to anyone who stumbles across this thread via a search (like I did), a quick note on insurance: You can have a digital deadbolt lock and keep your existing or get a new home insurance cover. Some providers may have a “key operated” clause attached to their deadbolt requirement (although mine doesn’t), but that doesn’t generally mean you can’t have a cover without one, in the worst case your premium may go up a little for not satisfying their deadbolt criteria. I recently installed a Samsung digital deadbolt lock and called my insurer, they said its ok. They didn’t make a distinction between manual key operated vs digital. I was told that as long as it is a deadbolt (not a spring bolt with a handle connected to the locking mechanism) and it can be locked from both sides it qualifies. But having said that, for anyone who has doubts, call your insurer for clarification. I personally think pivot door are over the top, as you said a bit impractical having a small useless section and poor insulation.
