Re: Hot Water System Security 22Apr 26, 2009 4:39 pm vvs mand So far this year, I've replaced four stolen hot water systems and replaced the water pipes in three houses where they were stolen for the copper. One house they broke into and ripped it right out of the walls. That's worrying. Were all the houses being lived in at the time or were they being built? Do they just turn up and steal them in the middle of the night? Re: Hot Water System Security 23Apr 26, 2009 6:49 pm No, in all cases the properties were vacant. As soon as the grass is long and a property has a for lease sign or auction sign on them they strike. I can almost see where my next job is comming from as soon as the for lease sign pops up. Every hot water manufacturer makes their units to be installed internally or externtally. that is true -- all manufacturers do sell them, but similarly with electric / LPG units, the demand for internal HWS is comparatively low (eg. Rinnai has only 1 of their 7 models is available internally, the rest are external). also, there is a cost premium for internal gas units in installation, because legally the units must be flued externally or you could have a dangerous build-up of exhaust fumes in your home. you might also consider wherever you decide to place your system the Temperature Pressure Relief (TPR) valve which empties all the water from the tank in the event of a pressure or temperature build-up, for safety -- this occurs at random intervals and all the water has to run somewhere -- you will find more than a few cases where they've been thoughtlessly installed indoors or in a multi-storey building with nowhere for water to go but flood the floors of the home -- safe perhaps, potentially costly most definitely. your plumber may install it properly, but there are no more guarantees of that than of a plumber actually turning up in an emergency situation. I believe that ought to read, 'two large, ugly, mean, mongrel dogs'. my mother had two full-grown Samoyeds stolen over the top of a secure 7-foot fence at her home in Brighton years ago -- they each cost a lot more than a new hot water service. after that she bought Doberman Pinschers, to guard amongst other things, her other pets. that said, whatever you do -- never buy into Pitbull crossbreeds -- the only good one is a dead one. the sun master is the solar heating to "warm" the water in the tank the S26 is your hot water system which will heat the water (25 degrees?) so with both turned on you… 2 13386 It's all about wireless, self install now.
