Door bell

There are quite a few on the market, but be warned, they aren't cheap (range between $600 to $1400). Here are some links:

To make it ring any or all phones in a house, I've got a cheap computer running what is effectively a telephone exchange doing the call routing (I'm tech savvy enough to set this up myself, otherwise it would be an additional cost to get someone to do this for you). Without this, I think you can only do a peer-to-peer connection, i.e. ring a single phone.

The models above do SIP/VoIP, which is a standard. There are cheaper alternatives, but I suspect they use proprietry protocols.

I forgot to add, the intercoms I linked above do both audio and video- which lets you take a photo every time the door bell is pressed, or let you stream the video to your mobile phone. There are SIP (voice) only door stations which can still be set up to ring any phone- obviously these voice only door stations are cheaper
Can you provide it's specifications? For compatibility testing?

I'm unsure exactly what you mean, but when I was looking for door stations, my requirements were that it had to support the SIP VoIP (Voice over internet) protocol, as well as a standard video codec like H.263/4 (MPeg). SIP is an industry standard for internet telephony. It is an open standard (unlike say, Skype)
You can test on pretty much any computing platform, as there are free SIP implementations on Android (natively), iOS, Windows, Mac and Linux.
You can do simple testing with a peer-to-peer (direct) connection. If you want to do something more tricky, like making multiple extensions ring, or a more complex scenario like "make the doorbell ring my mobile between 8am and 6pm on weekdays, and house phone after hours", you need to have PBX software. There are free implementations, including Asterisk (on Linux), as well as on Windows (google is your friend). There are also cloud based SIP hosting solutions
Hope this helps
Wow that system is full on.

Came across this fancy video door bell runs on 3G, will need a SIM card to operate. But whole setup seems very simple.

Price is $712, so not cheap but simple to setup.

We killed two birds with one stone...

We needed a new cordless phone set up, and whilst shopping we noticed this Telstra one came with a wireless video doorbell set up.
It rings through the handsets, very loud, as the visitor presses the doorbell it snaps a picture.
You can answer the handset and it'll do video chat to the person outside.
We had someone call past the house the other day while we were at work and came home to "one new pic" on the handset, sure enough we could see that our neighbour from down the street rang the bell at 4:55pm, with a recorded mug shot! Quite handy.
We weren't fussed on anew particular doorbell set up, but it does quite well... Easy to install and as far as we're concerned came free with the phone!

Hi Mclovin, have you given it a try or has anybody else used https://ring.com bell? The installation looks very easy and the 24/7 cloud recording for US$30 pa is cheap too.
