Browse Forums Safer Living Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 141Dec 15, 2015 4:27 pm Great info here. I'm also looking into this next year once the house finish building Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 142Jan 06, 2016 9:22 am Cameras arrived from China about a week after ordering. I've only just put them up last night so still learning etc keep in mind all pics below are from the mobile app and screen shot so I'm assuming direct images and video from the harddrive should be a higher resolution. This is the right side 4mm lens I'm not really 100% with the vision from this one doesn't seem as clear but does have a larger degree of vision. I think I will swap this out for another 6mm http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/037A361D-8208-4C4A-87BB-63DB0CF27D5F_zps7nv8caup.jpg This is the left side with a 6mm lens seems much crisper and clearer although my placement isn't the best I need to play and rotate to get a better field of vision but happy with the picture on this one. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/393C1D80-13A7-419A-B7D4-EA5196B4A5CB_zpsoxkidzrh.jpg Right side 4mm at night it's a bit dark so may eventually add an infrared motion sensor spotlight to this area to light it up but again changing to a 6mm may help http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/170BFDC7-6196-455E-B1EF-9FB8F41E99D5_zpsbrg0lvre.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/6F38972F-961F-4840-92D4-F3345B372080_zpsyuhadp4b.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/A5FED870-67CB-4A30-ADBC-A44EA7EAF7F4_zpsiulzm6qq.jpg And left side at night http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/9837F753-F8ED-43DC-9E2F-C56EF5CF9F12_zpslypv91ec.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/3E2AF5F5-5C98-400D-A595-693BC4B7CBFE_zpsx0l6rttp.jpg Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 143Jan 06, 2016 9:31 am Cameras are HIKVISION DS-2CD3335-I with 4mm and 6mm lens. NVR is HIKVISION DS-7616NI-E2/8P 16CH 8xPoE I'm planning on moving my 4mm under my entry as its more illuminated and is a closer area to cover so should suit better there. I then will purchase another 6mm to replace my 4mm and then do the rest of the house with 6mm. I am also tossing up doing a 12mm from my garage down my driveway to get better long distance coverage. All in all I am happy with the products from HIKVISION but I'm just learning which Lens suit which area etc Does anyone with these systems know if I will get better resultion video direct of the harddrive in the NVR? Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 144Jan 06, 2016 11:21 am Great photos reviews MrBee. I would strongly suggest to view images from nvr first before switching between 4 and 6 mm. Image quality on mobile apps is on very low resolution. That's why every camera has 2 channels, one high resolution for nvr and second low resolution for mobile apps. Also keep smart IR auto to turn those red lights on around your camera. This will give you better quality picture in dark and will make your camera visible from far to deter opportunist. Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 145Jan 06, 2016 11:28 am Update, i have played with the resolution settings and this is a better representation of their clarity... http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/b_zpsiw5ve8xi.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/e_zps9snlsvqq.jpg Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 146Jan 06, 2016 11:31 am mirz Great photos reviews MrBee. Thanks i managed to extract the images at what i believe to be full resolution 2048 x 1536 and they seem to be alot better.. im now a little more impressed with the 4mm.. I have just ordered 2 more 6mm ones though as i need them for the back any way.... Do you know what format the video saves in on the HDD direct or if i can view it through a PC by plugging HDD in? Yep i have the smart IR on so have little red glow constantly for them now i've adjusted some settings in day light im hoping night time may be a little better too Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 147Jan 06, 2016 12:13 pm Here is a quick clip i did to test night vision: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIj6e32 ... e=youtu.be Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 150Feb 14, 2016 7:18 pm Thanks for the information, this is really useful. I'm looking at this Hikvision camera (http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product ... 44958.html) It doesn't support firmware upgrade which is nearly twice as expensive ($90 vs $170). I want to connect and record to my PC/NAS as well as access from my phone. Does anyone know if the firmware upgrade functionality is needed? Also, any thoughts on the 4mp vs 3mp as these are now the same price. Thanks, Julian Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 151Feb 17, 2016 8:56 am Is there a way you can connect the nvr to multiple TVs so you can watch in real time? Also is there a way to work out what lens would suit the application Bels Bear in mind though that what you're purchasing from aliexpress would now be China region cameras that have been hacked to english so there will be no firmware updates available without messing around with various things first. They will only work on China region NVRs generally with newer firmware. So if you do what to go down that route, get your cams and NVRs together all from aliexpress and you'll be less likely to have compatibility issues. So how do you work out if there hacked or not. I'm assuming even if you buy off eBay be the seller from China or Aus there going to have the hacked firmware? Also is there a way to work out what lens would suit the application not sure on multiples, there is a HDMI output to one TV but not sure if HDMI can be split, you could (if u have smart Tv with web access) just use the web software to watch in real time on as many web enabled TV as you like (or iphones etc), otherwise you could have a pc hooked up to the TV if not a smart TV and watch throguh there Bels Bear in mind though that what you're purchasing from aliexpress would now be China region cameras that have been hacked to english so there will be no firmware updates available without messing around with various things first. Not sure you really can but what he is saying is to buy all together preferably from same seller to make sure theya re all compatible... i did this bought the NVR and cameras from china and will continue to buy more cameras from same seller as well... with len's its hard to tell... 4mm is about 170 degree field of view and 6mm 120 degree i've tried both over a 16m distance and the 6mm worked best to get number plates... however the 6mm over 30m is pretty useless for number plates but could make out people but not faces... you would need to go to 12mm for 30m but field of vision is relaly reduced.... here is 4mm and 6mm on same spot... to show you the differences this is approx 16m distance give or take.... 4mm on normal view: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/4mm_zpsioydw9yr.jpg 4mm zoomed in on car can barely read number plate: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/4mmb_zpshk40cadv.jpg 6mm on normal view: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/6mm_zps0uo3woxz.jpg 6mm zoomed in on can can clearly read the number plate: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/6mmb_zpsonzavtdt.jpg Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 154Feb 17, 2016 11:46 am Yes thanks for that, gives an idea on where to go. Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 155May 15, 2016 1:42 am Format they record in is H264, can be viewed by any media player that has that codec. Trial and error is the best method for lens selection. The effective quality increase of 4MP over 3MP in my opinion is not worth the upgrade. But what I do is use an inexpensive Chromecast dongle to cast my camera app from my phone onto the big screen. Not ideal because you still need the phone app. Alternatively you could use a cheap Android HDMI stick that can constantly run the camera app, and all you need to do is flick sources with your TV remote. I use Apple TV to mirror from my phone which isn't ideal but ok if looking occasionally otherwise hdmi straight to the tv from nvr but then keyboard control becomes a problem Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 160May 16, 2016 7:54 pm RJMM_H1 bpratt Have you guys found any apps for smart tv's that can access your cameras easily ? That seems like a possibility... now just to try and find something that will work. My camera's go straight to my NAS, so I can't plug that in to the tv. I'd hoping one of these tv manufacturers had already got an app for their tv's that supported this sort of thing. Thanks for the other replies too.
