Browse Forums Safer Living 1 Sep 03, 2013 7:16 am Hi I recently got a motorised front sliding gate and high front fence installed. I have been researching which video door intercom system to have installed but am confused about which brand/company to go with. I heard about aiphone but they were very expensive and the indoor monitor was quite old fashion looking and small. The other company was Panacom which came in around $550 for the monitor and door unit, a friend of mine has the Panacom and have been happy with them. My electrician said that he could run the cabling and install either unit for me. I did get a quote from a company which installs Nevras intercoms and was around $900 fully installed. I would appreciate any advice you can give me. Would you choose a company that specialises in these things to get the unit and have it installed by them or get my electrician to install the unit. Thanks Re: Help with Door video intercoms 2Sep 05, 2013 12:15 pm I've been in the same dilemma, but at the end of the day just choose something you like. My quotes for video intercom installed: QVS0021 Video Intercom Kit - $550 inc. GST Kocom Video Intercom Kit - $795 inc. GST Futuro 7.2 Video Intercom - $845 inc. GST I went ahead with the Futuro system, looks the nicest out of all of them. Because my walls are Dulux natural white I would say the white monitor would probably suit the room better, I plan to have it installed in the hallway near the front door. Have you installed and used your one yet? I am hoping that the monitor will allow me to open the sliding gate as well. Any other opinions would be welcomed Re: Help with Door video intercoms 4Sep 17, 2013 11:32 am Hi Reno_girl, No, I'm at lock up stage at the moment and I won't have any of my security installed until December at the earliest. I am also unsure as to whether it will open sliding gates, that's probably something you'll have to ask the techs. Good luck. There have been a spate of robberies in and around the suburb I am building in. I'm getting crimsafe doors and will have some CCTV put in to monitor the street. This system can do alerts to your smartphone. http://www.tsvm.com.au/ Build thread: here Land Nov 12, Contract 6/07/13, Consent 15/08/13, Start 20/09/13, Slab 25/09/13, Frame 4/10/13, Brick 21/10/13, Roof 2/11/13, Lock-up 17/12/13, Handover 3/3/14 Re: Help with Door video intercoms 6Oct 06, 2013 10:32 pm Sorry for late reply Jaymak and Maximus but I have left the door intercom thought for the moment. I did contact the company that sells Futuro and they said that the gate could be connected but now I realise that it would be great if my Merlin garage door could be connected as well. Far nicer to have one wall unit that could open independently the Garage roller door and the sliding gate. I wanted my electrician to connect the intercom but with the extra's I am not sure if they will be able to do this, maybe I should use the technician from the company to install the units instead as they would be more familiar with what they would need to do. I hope to have something connected in the next few months as it has been hard not knowing if someone was waiting outside our gate to come in. Thanks for your help and suggestions If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8289 Black on light wood does look good.
