Security ideas? 21Oct 06, 2012 10:51 pm rosewood I have mine recessed but this is done before the brickwork. it doesn't happen to every house so don't think we have country full of people knocking off hws heaters. I think it just happens in certain areas. Okay, you guys had me worried quite a lot for a while there! Re: Stolen hot water system. Security ideas? 22Oct 09, 2012 6:49 pm Hehe, these thefts are a boon to security companies. I'm reevaluating my entire system (I need to be able to monitor things such as fire from abroad as it is), and I'm thinking that I don't need perimeter security (going off by a blown past plastic bag), but a few outdoor sensors and LED floodlights might be just the thing. I will have cameras on the roof - again mostly so I can see if there's any (hail or wind) damage to the evacuated tubes and solar panels, if there's a lot of leaves up there, and in general to see what the weather is like from abroad. I might as well add a few cameras since the backbone will already be in place. Re: Stolen hot water system. Security ideas? 23Jan 22, 2013 10:38 am I purchased a cage from Reece plumbing but all plumbing supply stores have them anyway for my Rinnai Infinity 32 system. The code was Rinnai01. Cost was $418. Plumber dynabolted the cage during HWS installation. If they manage to rip this off the wall, then they probably deserve it or they will have to rip the brick wall out with the unit. The cheaper option is the security bracket for about $50 but this is not a significant deterrent as they will have a go at removing the unit and possibly damage it in the process. Also put a sensor floodlight in where the HWS and air con compressors sit on the side of the house so thieves can be easily seen. Re: Stolen hot water system. Security ideas? 24Mar 11, 2013 9:36 pm Tradies are obviously pinching them to install on their next job. An easy solution would be that tehy are marked with the address when they are first installed. (possibly with a punch set or something along those lines) I know when I got our new house, I wouldnt have accepted second hand hot water system. So by marking it, the market for stolen systems would drop over night Re: Stolen hot water system. Security ideas? 25Mar 12, 2013 9:24 pm so its obvious that trades are pinching them is it ! I would suggest that its just jerks that are selling them in pubs & not for any particular job at all. There are such things as serial numbers & builders are now recording them on install. the sun master is the solar heating to "warm" the water in the tank the S26 is your hot water system which will heat the water (25 degrees?) so with both turned on you… 2 12492 It's all about wireless, self install now.
