Browse Forums Safer Living 1 May 15, 2012 10:33 am Hi, ive searched the forums yet would like to pose the question anyway. Im looking at a simple yet stylish intercom system to add to our house. The doorbell/camera unit will sit on a brick wall at the front and the monitor about 10m away inside next to the alarm pad. Now where in sydney can i go view some systems, im not looking for a really high end one ... vdps.com.au have some good looking units available. oh also, how much would it roughly cost to have installed you think if anyone has had experience. cheers simple video intercom systems, where in sydney 2May 15, 2012 4:24 pm Hi Many locksmiths sell these as well as places like Bunnings and Jaycar. You can also get a wide variety on eBay. They aren't too hard to install and you can do it yourself if you feel up to it. The system will have a power supply that needs to plug in to a power point somewhere but all of the cabling (including that from the power supply to the monitor) is low voltage and quite safe. If you were to get a handyman, locksmith or electrician to install it I guess the main variable would be the difficulty in running the cable from the front door - what is your house construction? 1 or 1 storey? Tile roof? You could also have a look at DickSmith as they stock Swann items which are good value for money. A bank is a place that will lend you money only if you can prove that you don't need it...
