Browse Forums Safer Living 1 Jan 30, 2012 12:51 pm We want to have a few external lights with sensors on the property. These lights will come on individually if the sensor detects movement ( for ease of access and also for security). If the house alarm is triggered ( we are looking at the bosch 16+ system) - we want ALL the external lights to come on... can the 16+ do this?? Also I assume if we have all these lights wired back to one circuit breaker - and then run a couple of switches into the house from this...then if we need to - we can hit the switch and all the lights will come on... and the same if we use the alarm panic button.... Do we need to buy particular lights/senors to be able to do this? and can the 16+ handle this.?? Thanks Re: security lights, sensors and alarms 2Feb 10, 2012 7:36 pm Hi As long as the Bosch alarm can activate a relay in an alarm condition (I think it can - it is a fairly standard feature) then you can get your electrician to wire the lights through a contactor (basically a high-power relay) in your switchboard to turn the lights on. You need to make sure that it turns off once the alarm stops sounding (after 3 minutes or so) otherwise if the alarm goes off while you are out then your lights will stay on until you get home and disarm the alarm. It is tricky to have lights to come on individually from a sensor but then controlled by a single switch, because the lights are then all connected to a single circuit. You could get several contactors that switch the individual circuits and then wire these to the alarm, so that the alarm can turn on all the lights, but this may get a bit expensive. Paul It's all about wireless, self install now. The cost/benefit of wired setups for the house are no longer what they used to be. Lots of wireless options.
