Browse Forums Safer Living 1 Jan 14, 2010 12:34 pm I have a candle lighter from Dusk. It is not child proof. But, it has two buttons that needs to be pressed simultaneously to work. My question is - is it safe to store it in a kitchen drawer? It won't automatically turn itself on and burn down my place? Where do you store your Candle lighter? Store it in a high cupboard in a container, or somewhere where there is no chance that it will a) be in reach of anyone under the age of 12 and b) accidentally activated by clutter or objects on-top of it. Peace of mind is worth the extra effort Re: Where do you store your lighter? 4Jan 14, 2010 1:51 pm Ours is a push the slide across then pull the trigger sort of like a gun thing. It is up above the stove above the spices where kids can't get it! Re: Where do you store your lighter? 5Jan 14, 2010 2:07 pm Our gun thingo is stored above the stove... in the top cupboard. Even I have trouble reaching it I'm actually not sure why it's there as we dont even have kids... just cats and dogs Re: Where do you store your lighter? 6Jan 14, 2010 2:23 pm Aaron & Erin Our gun thingo is stored above the stove... in the top cupboard. [In my head] I get home from work to see my home burnt down and the fireman telling me - well, it was your lighter that caused the fire. Re: Where do you store your lighter? 16Jan 15, 2011 11:34 pm We keep ours in a tub that also holds Permanent Markers and Liquid Paper ... kept very high up and hidden - we have trouble scrambling for the lighter when it's 'cake time' on someone's birthday! I remember years back seeing a young child light up a lighter and it was so scary Re: Where do you store your lighter? 17Jan 16, 2011 4:11 pm if you have an integrated rangehood, I find that little narrow cupboard in front of/above it handy for things like candles, matches and lighters.
