Browse Forums Safer Living 1 Nov 03, 2009 7:34 am Hi, I'm an IT manager and need some advice on setting up an intercom system for my office. I'd like a camera system so reception can see who's at the door, with an intercom and buzzer for letting people through. The only catch is that the office needs another 2 intercom positions within the main room so that one of the secretaries can buzz a guest through if the reception is unattended. distance from reception to door is around 15m. There's no need for motion detection, recording, tamper proof devices, etc. I was wondering if anyone could recommend an all in one system for around 300gbp (or slightly over). Am considering having a separate ip camera and buzzer system, but I think there are better solutions.... thanks Re: video intercom system 2Nov 08, 2009 12:47 pm Gday Dan, Mate, what telephone system do you have in the office may I ask... digital? IP? You can integrate particular door stations with some phone systems so a call at the door would ring a group of phones of your choice and person's at the door can be let in by DTMF codes from the telephone keypad. If you have the right system we can get IP phones that also stream video content. If this is not going to work we also have a multi-station system we can recommend. Greg. Re: video intercom system 4May 04, 2010 5:46 pm hello, a standard house intercom system will work great. You will need a standard colour intercom system with lock release, PLUS how ever many extra colour stations you need. Wiring will go as follows. ( assuming your intercom from camera to monitor will not be over 20-25m ) from camera to monitor 1 <--- cat5 from monitor 1 to monitor 2 <-----cat5 from monitor 2 to monitor 3 <<<---- cat 5 etc etc ( loops in and loops out ) THEN you will need a power suppy ( this depends on the unit, and the amount of slave screens you are planning to have ) this is usually a plu-in power pack. so from a location where there may be a powerpoint to either the camera or monitor ( depending on model ) AND each slave screen ( depending on model) it sounds complicated but its not, every intercom is different in how it is wired.. but this will be the easiest way for your situation Electrical - Automation - Smart wiring - New homes - Commercial - Data cabling] 1300 050 315 www.cenemelectrical.com.au www.facebook.com/cenemelectrical Re: video intercom system 5Aug 10, 2010 3:43 pm Intercom, or doorphone Back talk is an independent electronic communications system is intended for private dialogue. traditional telephones are composed entirely of analog electronics, but many new features and interface options can be implemented based on the intercom new digital connections. Re: video intercom system 6Aug 25, 2010 12:39 pm I am guessing a bit what you mean by "automated"…. Most intercom systems require you to push a "Talk / Listen" button. An automated intercom could have a VOX (voice operated relay/switch) that "hears" that you are saying something, and automatically switches from "listen" to "talk". That exists. A higher definition would be that it does not react to any noise/talk, but needs a specific (and unusual) word to be activated (like in Star Trek: "Computer…!…."). Re: video intercom system 7Feb 14, 2011 12:50 am We at our company had the intercom from Samsung installed. Just search Samsung Video intercom and you can find their agent in Australia. Hope that helps Re: video intercom system 8Apr 10, 2011 8:44 pm dannyboy80 Hi, I'm an IT manager and need some advice on setting up an intercom system for my office.
