Browse Forums Safer Living Re: Home security system 21Apr 04, 2012 1:15 pm I would recommend a self-monitored system, I looked at Chubb, ADT, RAA and many other systems, they were all in the thousands of dollars with ridiculous monitoring charges. In the end I settled with a system from SecuritySMS and haven’t regretted it for a second. The system is cheap and easy to install, I am alerted instantly by SMS if the infra-red camera or any sensors are activated, you can add up to 15 wireless sensors (PIR motion, windows, doors, smoke...) to monitor the entire house. It has a battery backup and alerts me with SMS if there is a power-outage. I can schedule ‘alarm arming’ times, adjust alarm & image settings & more from anywhere with a online control panel. The main unit is slightly larger than a mobile phone and works on mobile networks so can be used anywhere regardless of internet or phone lines. All sensors are wireless; therefore easy to setup and move. I got my system setup for under $300 which covers my house and backyard. My monitoring cost is the price of a SIM card (which i have bundled with other Optus services) + any SMS/MMS usage, which is free as I’m on the same network. Re: 22Apr 24, 2012 1:03 pm Wanna Hi, we are having an alarm fitted by PD for our Frances 29. 1 external siren, 1 internal siren in the heating intake to send the sound through the house. We are having 3 sensors, each picking up an external entry point. Hope that helps. It's perfect. It's good idea but whether it is expensive. Home security system 23Nov 07, 2012 8:36 am We got ours from RAC a couple of years ago. It has 36 sensors and cost 5000. Took them 4 days to install. Could not live without it, always worked 100%. Full monitored Alarm, hooked up to the smoke detectors and garage doors. Re: Home security system 24Aug 19, 2014 11:17 am Hi, I would definitely recommend internal and external sensors, a DOG (LOL) and bars on the windows/doors for maximum home security. Sounds like a lot of paranoia, but definitely worth it. The average cost of the systems we use on our home builds are around $1200 including a monitor screen mounted internally with front door camera. Re: Home security system 27Nov 21, 2014 4:31 pm How does a Safewatch CellGuard work in a security system? Re: Home security system 28Sep 03, 2016 12:58 am BJ88 It's so ridiculous these days, we have to turn out homes to look like prisons with sensors and shutters to feel safe, oh well. I prefer to feel safe in your own prison than to chance it and hope an ice junkie gives you a miss. My neighbour across the road got done over in broad daylight by a couple of teenage punk ice junkies while he was out for a run. Fortunately for him my half finished CCTV setup caught them in the act and they were nabbed a few days later. He's glad he didn't get me to mask out his property when I approached him with that option. I'm sleeping better at night now as I've finally finished my house alarm and got it online so I won't have to chance it that I'll be left alone. I put in a Paradox Spectra 7000 with 6 zones and a reed switch on the garage door. I went with the optional IP module and self monitor it myself with email notifications for everything. The IP module also allows remote access from smart phones to arm/disarm and view status of zones. Re: Home security system 29Sep 05, 2016 5:25 pm Ok, can not commend too much. Feel happy is enough.
