Hi All,
I'm looking for any suggestions on a problem I've created. The problem consists of an installation of a water treatment system that has gone wrong. Got 3 quotes and ended up selecting (the wrong one unfortunately) our neighbour who is a joiner and excavator with a small machine. (We don't have an original quote only a verbal) He agreed to dig the hole and the irrigation trenched for a price. The problem that has occured is the tank has now subsided by more than 300cm and the manufacturer says it need to be re-excavated and reset. Of course this is quite expensive and the neighbour nows says he wasn't the project manager although he did use all his associates and rang them and managed all the connections. Am I the jackass in this decision or does anyone know if we have any recompense or recall. The subsidence has occured because the unit wasn't backfilled on one side, waiting for the plumber to fix to the house and rain runoff filled the unfilled area. No-one is taking any responsibility. the neighbour says he was just the digger, the plumber says he was just the plumber, yet both are colleagues. Do I just move on and get it fixed by the manufacturer and kick myself some more and learn from a big mistake?
