Browse Forums Increasing Home Value 1 Feb 22, 2011 12:05 pm Im looking for some help with building a built in wardrobe. I would love to see someones plans if possible. I have the internal building sorted but would like help with the frame. The wardrobe will be approx 1500mm by 600mm. If i have sliding doors then I will have tracks on the top and bottom. What option do I have on the sides? One side of the wardrobe is against a wall and the other will be free standing. Any help is appreciated. Built in Wardrobe 2Feb 22, 2011 12:46 pm You could cover the side with either plasterboard or alternatively have a sheet of laminex / melamine cut to size. No photos but when we had a chippy build some built ins for us he framed them with timber then sheeted the whole thing with plasterboard - then the painter painted then the same as the walls. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Built in Wardrobe 3Feb 22, 2011 12:49 pm Thanks kyton. What has been used up the sides, from the door tracks what run from the bottom track to the top track? Re: Built in Wardrobe 4Feb 24, 2011 4:35 pm There is an end panel which has a track on it. The doors close/open up to this. Google built in wardrobes and look at the photos. Are you going to build it yourself? If not, the supplier will show you. Re: Built in Wardrobe 5Mar 31, 2011 6:11 pm First off check Ikea it may be cheaper to use a standard box from Ikea then fix it in place and plaster board it to look like it is built in, remember it is really the above part and some units have extensions for hight. Also look at the kitchen cabinets in As-is-corner. I have in the past used cheap normal doors as walls etc so you do not have to use sliding doors work well I use them everyday do you? and They are about $29at Bunnings I used 2400x820 before when they were the same price as 2080 as you see if you have 2400 ceilings the doors only need a support to hang them. I noted your wardrobe is only 1500 you can get a single door 1200 or 2 at 720 and if you choose 2360 I think about $60 each . What is great about a hinged door is NO NOISE after a while all sliding doors develop a noise that will wake the partner>>>>> google and look at the images good luck Re: Built in Wardrobe 8Apr 17, 2011 8:50 am Donnalouise Im looking for some help with building a built in wardrobe.
