Hi there, I am renovating an old bungalow to sell so I am trying to give it a bit of a lift before I put it on the market. Does anyone have some good tips on what areas should be renovated to give the house an increase in value ready to sell.
Thanks

Does anyone have some good tips on what areas should be renovated to give the house an increase in value ready to sell. Thanks Re: Renovating a bungalow 3Oct 02, 2010 2:56 pm Its about 50 years old and we purchased it with a new kitchen but we are stuck on which colours to paint the walls. It is a small house but veru cosy with an open fireplace. We want to make the rooms appear larger. Thanks Re: Renovating a bungalow 4Oct 04, 2010 10:34 am I would choose lighter colours on the walls, maybe in cream tones like Dulux Bone White or Taubmans Sand Dollar and maybe an accent wall around the fireplace but go for the more classic colours ie I think Dulux have a Federation style catalogue of colours. Also check out sites like www.houzz.com or www.potterybarn.com for colour ideas which might suit your house style. Re: Renovating a bungalow 5Apr 11, 2011 8:24 pm The two rooms a potential buyer looks most closely at are the kitchen and the bathroom. I'd also give the outside a make-over. If the outside is appealing, potential buyers will be tempted to stop and look further. Good luck! Re: Renovating a bungalow 7Apr 15, 2011 9:03 pm Put nice door handles on all doors not just kitchens! Brighten it up with white shutter blinds. if the bathroom is still original spray them white with tile paint to clean it up....and get proper styling done to the house! First impressions count, so tidying the exterior and making it fresh is a must Agree with Kitchen & Bathroom being the "selling" points, maybe look at having keeping the existing kitchen carcass but replacing the bench top & cupboard doors... maybe the handles too. Definitely a new lick of paint - whisper white will do wonders too Re: Renovating a bungalow 9Nov 16, 2011 1:50 pm Bungalows always seem to be in hot demand here in Adelaide (not sure if Perth is the same)- everyone loves them because they can do them up in a classic/ character home style. If you are in a high end suburb where the really nicely done up ones fetch high prices I think that you should either do it up VERY- well or leave it alone and let the people buying it make it exactly the way they want... these old homes are the mecca for people looking for timeless appeal- don't do a half hearted job! Big skirting boards and fireplaces mixed with plantation shutters are a must. Maybe some classic white subway brick tiles in the kitch splash back - classic choices with a touch of colour here and there- but not brightly painted walls- classic whites and warm greys for sure.
