Browse Forums Increasing Home Value 1 Sep 24, 2010 8:01 am Hi there, Just wondering about the cost of enclosing an existing carport. My thoughts were to brick in three sides of the carport (as it is attatched already to my house). The concerete slab and electricity are already there. Has anyone done extensions like this before? (I'm typing this from my computer cupboard in my new family room which was once my carport!) Our double carport was also under the roof line with piers on two sides. The front was enclosed by brick walls and a roller door - it looked like we had a garage from the front of the house. We had to get plans drawn up to do the extension. We also had to lay a new slab so that the floor line was level and waterproof. (We added a pergola and a new carport at the front of the house as well.) We put a window in where the roller door was and bricked in three gaps between the piers. In the other gap we put a sliding door. It cost us between $35,000 - $45,000 to do this extension. (I actually think we got ripped off so make sure you get lots of quotes!) I will see if I can find plans and some before and after photo's.
