We do however live on the north coast of NSW so our winters are at the coldest about 15 degree during the day and very short timeframe. I dont like tiles (harsh under foot), although I am heavy footed!, cold and unforgiving. We used to live in the snowy mountains so I had carpet in bedrooms, family (mistake) and lounge, rest was floorboards. Everyone commented on how lovely they were (even when it was 1 degree outside! As for the carpet, I went the most expensive carpet I could find due to wearability and keeping that lovely "new" look. After 4 years though, I think it didnt look much better than cheap carpet in the traffic areas. I must say I am a fixed carpet disliker. I also have a husband and daughter who have asthma and its recommended that they dont have carpet. I find carpet is dirty, and smelly (especially with small kids) and unless your prepared to have professionally cleaned every 2 months and vac every day - its a no brainer for me - give me floorboards. Note I did say "fixed carpet". I love rugs and will be having a rug in each bedroom for the kids to sit on and play. I am in the tender/contract process of building my new home and have chosen to have floorboards throughout. I am also a fixed carpet disliker as its harder to keep clean and maintain that new look. As well as this I also have bad asthma and suspect my future children will also inherit this from me (unlucky) so have chosen to completely ditch carpet. My partner and I were initially looking to buy a house and were planning to rip up any carpet and lay floorboards or laminate instead. A house with all floorboards would have definitely held greater appeal and value to us! So I think when it comes to adding value to the house for some buyers it will but for others it wont. I don't think there is a set rule! Goodluck im sure whatever you choose will be beautiful! Hi, Have fun, remember bedrooms should feel relaxing and inviting, the last space you see before sleep and the first you see when you wake up. Make sure it makes you… 6 16428 We are tossing up between a Jarrahdale radiant wood fire (the Pioneer) and a convection wood fire (Innovator or Countryman) but cannot decide on which type of wood fire is… 0 5445 yeah i couldnt picture it issue either, but i could clearly picture what they were doing wrong haha 2 5454 |
