We currently have a wall mounted older style, kinda chunky air-con unit in the lounge room (only air-con in the house). We are renovating the property (contemporary style) and although we currently live in it we have the view to renting it out in a couple of years time. I was wondering if it was worth replacing this older unit with something 'trendier' and less obtrusive like a LG artcool? I was wondering if it was worth replacing this older unit with something 'trendier' and less obtrusive like a LG artcool? Do you mean with a more modern wall mounted air con? I say if the LG artcool is at the end of its lifespan then grab a new one over an interest-free period and use the rental payments to help pay it off (if you have anything left after mortgage payments if any). You can definitely get more money from rent with an airconditioned house. If you are going to rent then no point moving to a ducted system. I mean any sort of electricity savings etc is moot as the tenants will be paying the electricity not the landlord! I say just buy something cheap that looks modern which will last till you move back in. Don't worry about energy efficiency unless you are a greenie:) Re: Update air-con system to add value? 3May 24, 2009 8:50 pm Air conditioning will help you rent your home quicker and for a cheaper price. If you could get an extra $15 per week in rent, it would pay for the air conditioning system in 3-4 years, so it would probably be worthwhile. If it is purely a rental, consider a basic system that is reliable and comes with a 5 year parts & labour warranty. The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place. The agents weren't happy… 2 4239 How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents? And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 5933 Hi all, sorting out the ducted air con for a 350sqm double story house. Does this placement sound reasonable to you? Also, I plan to have 6 zones I think. Living room… 0 0 |
